The Ashby Approach
We’re driven by our commitment to create world-leading spaces, always seeking to innovate and improve.
Serious about sustainability
Throughout design, construction and occupation we aspire for our buildings to be market leaders in sustainability. Diverting construction waste from landfill, repurposing existing structures, facilitating carbon-zero commuting, generating on-site renewable energy and establishing biodiverse habitats are a handful of the ways that demonstrate our commitment. Our assets have achieved many firsts, including the first building in the UK to be awarded a Platinum AirScore rating.
100% of excavation waste and 99% of construction and demolition waste has been diverted from landfill
52.8% less energy being used than a typical building as defined by Part L of the Building Regulations (2013)
512kg/m2 By retaining 75% of the building, a saving of 512kg/m2 of embodied carbon has been made compared to a new build equivalent. This is equivalent to 12,312 flights from LHR-NYC
Two bee colonies on the roof as part of the building’s commitment to biodiversity and local ecologyThe JJ Mack Building
75 PV cells on the roof generating 8,582kWh per year. This is equivalent to running one of the lifts for 6 months
Bike storage, lockers and showers to encourage environmentally-friendly commutingThe JJ Mack Building
Our buildings are designed to stimulate and positively impact those who interact with them, creating an aesthetic that is as artful as it is functional. Thoughtful people-centric design enables our buildings to enhance the experience and wellbeing of those within, adding texture and inspiration to spaces that promote collaboration and productivity.
We embed technology that makes the everyday more efficient, be that contactless access, analytics that report building and energy usage or smart lighting and heating controls. Our building apps place the control into the palms of the people who use them, saving time, energy and cost.
Transparent tech Digital twin models of our buildings, accessed by smartphone, provide visibility and control to building management, tenant occupiers and individual users
Building apps also link to real time weather reports, travel information and special offers from local F&B providers
User-friendly WiFi Accessible in all communal areas with no-sign up needed and a choice of carriers for tenants
Concise control On floor lighting, heating and cooling controlled remotely via app grant precise environmental control to tenants and individuals
CONNECTING PEOPLE TO PLACE
We’re constantly innovating to ensure our buildings are adapting and attuned to modern lifestyles. Enhanced end of journey facilities, outdoor spaces and dedicated exercise areas are a few of the amenities we regard as standard.
We are committed to the communities our buildings are part of, forging local partnerships to add new kinds of value to the people who live and work there. Low carbon development, public engagement initiatives, wellbeing drives and creative placemaking are a few of the ways we try to positively impact local communities for the long-term.
