Space for generosity
In the old days, to guarantee a good turnout for a new office building launch, it was all about offering freebies.
If you gave away fistfuls of M&S vouchers or a free video recorder (in the old, old days), loads of agents would come for a cursory look around, grab some free booze and canapés and leave laden with goodies – and a brochure.
Times have changed and arguably for the better. Last week, at the launch of The Kensington Building – a 95,000 sq ft office and retail scheme on Kensington High Street being delivered by AshbyCapital and developer Janson Urban – the emphasis was very much on giving rather than receiving. The recipient was the Red Cross, with the project partners and agents in attendance donating money to help fund the charity’s efforts to help the people of Ukraine.
An spokesperson for AshbyCapital said: “This is a building that considers the wider world through its environmental credentials, so it felt appropriate to announce a donation by AshbyCapital and Janson Urban to the Red Cross to provide help for the people of Ukraine. We also encouraged attendees to make a donation.”
