Planes, trains and automobiles - the race back from Mipim
For those who decided to make a weekend of it after Mipim and were left stranded in France following the French air-traffic controllers’ strike, this story is bound to leave your boss questioning whether you really went the extra mile to get back to the office on Monday morning. There are bound to be hundreds (including one Property Weeker) who rolled into the office straight from the airport on Tuesday, having endured a torrid 48 hours of flight delays and cancellations.
But no strike was going to come between Ashby Capital’s Peter Ferrari and Helical Bar’s Gerald Kaye and their respective busy Monday schedules. True to his name, Ferrari rushed to a car-hire shop to pick up one of the last remaining vehicles, and the pair drove with their wives through the night to Lille, arriving in time to catch the Eurostar reaching St Pancras at 8am, comfortably making their first meetings in London.
If there was ever a more impressive tale of beating travel chaos to make it back to the office in time for work, Metropolis has yet to hear it.
