New café comes to Slough as The Future Works brews up Lucy’s Kitchen
A new café is set to open in Slough after AshbyCapital and U+I announced that Lucy’s Kitchen will open on the ground floor of The Future Works, their 100,000 sq ft office development.
Set to launch in the coming weeks, the 1,645 sq ft café will serve both those working in the building and the public, offering coffee, meals and light bites from 8am until 4pm. The offer will consist of freshly brewed barista-style coffee, breakfast, lunch and hot and cold drinks and snacks. The menu at Lucy’s Kitchen’s will change every week, and includes daily main, vegetarian, snack and soup options, incorporating a variety of world cuisines. Seducing Slough’s tastebuds will also be a breakfast kitchen, offering porridge, toast and a daily breakfast special – ranging from baked eggs to American-style pancakes.
With an outdoor terrace and space to seat 42 people, the café has been inspired by the latest in biophilic design, with extensive indoor planting aiming to create a sense of calm, in line with the refurbished reception area and new phases of The Future Works.
The café adds to the exceptional amenities already available at The Future Works, including a 3,100 sq ft communal roof terrace with views of Windsor Castle and Wi-Fi connectivity, a double-height feature entrance hall and secure basement parking with electric car charging spaces. The building’s extensive facilities for cyclists and runners include bicycle parking, luxurious changing rooms with towel service, a drying room and smart vending machine.

Located next to the town’s contemporary new bus station, The Future Works is moments from Slough rail station with the Elizabeth Line opening in 2022. It has a BREEAM environmental and sustainability rating of ‘Excellent’, the UK’s first Platinum AirScore rating for its indoor air quality, and is WiredCertified Platinum for its connectivity and digital infrastructure.
The Future Works is the first phase of a £200 million investment in Slough and provides 100,000 sq ft of prime office space in a striking building designed by award-winning architects Sheppard Robson. In total, the three-phase regeneration project will create 360,000 sq ft of new office accommodation.
Future occupiers will join ByBox, the specialist in smart locker technology and field service solutions, and WRK, the flexible serviced office and co-working provider on the ground and first floors. 74,000 sq ft of office space is currently available, over five contiguous floors.
