Peter Ferrari

Chief Executive

Peter is our Chief Executive. He set up AshbyCapital in 2013.

Peter has over 30 years’ experience in the property industry. His previous experience includes roles as Managing Director at Heron International and as a Director at London & Edinburgh Trust. He was instrumental in the growth of both, working on exciting projects across various sectors in the UK and Europe.

Peter holds a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy and a Masters degree in Land Management from Reading University. He has been a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 1988.

Peter is proud of the dynamic, close-knit and ambitious team he has built under the AshbyCapital brand. Outside of work, he enjoys various sports and is a keen family man.

Charles-Etienne Lawrence

Investment Director

Charles is our Investment Director and takes particular responsibility for deal making, structuring and negotiation. With previous experience at JER Partners as well as in the Real Estate Finance and Advisory teams at both HSBC and RBS Charles has comprehensive knowledge of real estate investment across the debt-equity spectrum.

Charles holds an MSc Finance from HEC Montréal and a degree in international business from Université du Québec à Montréal. He is also a CFA charterholder and speaks English, French and Spanish.

Charles uses exercise to switch off from work, whether through climbing, hiking, cycling or yoga.

Tom Smithers

Head of Asset Management

Tom joined us in January 2016 as an Asset Manager. He has a broad range of property experience and a passion for creating best-in-class real estate assets and delivering the highest possible service for tenants.

Tom previously worked at Green Property, where he was responsible for three UK distressed asset management platforms on behalf of various banking clients. Prior to this, he spent six years at German Fund IVG, where he was responsible for acquisitions and disposals. Tom started his career at Grosvenor, where he trained and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor.

Tom holds a first-class honours degree in Real Estate Management and has been a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) since 2006.

His hands-on approach to property does not end at the workplace: he recently completed a five-year house renovation project which included a huge amount of DIY.

Lucy Arthur

Head of Asset Marketing

Lucy is Head of Asset Marketing.

After obtaining a first-class degree in Politics from Durham University, Lucy worked as a management consultant across the retail, leisure and financial services industries before joining Ashby in 2013.

Lucy enjoys the varied nature of her role, coordinating with operators, tenants, agents, and our building management teams across all of our investments.

Out of the office, Lucy can usually be found playing sport – she is a keen sailor, windsurfer, skier and tennis player.

Simon Osborne

Legal Counsel

Simon is our Legal Counsel.

He trained and qualified at Clifford Chance LLP and joined us from Forsters LLP, one of the UK’s top real estate law firms. Simon has worked across a broad range of M&A transactions, with a particular focus on property holding company acquisitions and development joint ventures, as well as private equity work and corporate restructurings. He has substantial and wide-ranging experience in the commercial and residential real estate sectors and enjoys the sense of satisfaction of getting a deal done.

Simon has a degree in Modern History from the University of St Andrews, a Graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law and completed his Legal Practice Certificate at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice.

Out of work, Simon’s passions include his family, golf and countryside walks.

Daniel Armitage

Asset Manager

Daniel joined us in September 2017 as an Asset Manager and assists with the management of our investment portfolio. He began his career in property as a Commercial Agent at Owen Shipp Commercial before joining Cushman and Wakefield in 2014 where he was based in the Professional Advisory team.

Daniel relishes the variety of work the property industry provides and is passionate about taking buildings from construction or refurbishment through to ongoing management and sale. Aside from winning the Property Week Bake Off in 2012 with his recreation of The Shard, his proudest achievement to date is his involvement in the procurement and management of a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) contract to restructure their national leasehold portfolio.

Daniel obtained a Bachelor’s degree in History before studying for a MSc in Real Estate, achieving a distinction. He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).

Outside of work, Daniel is a keen sportsman; he plays football and tennis, sails and is an avid skier.

Joe-Man Wan

Investment Analyst

Joe is an Investment Analyst. His work involves analysing the feasibility of property investment opportunities as well as day-to-day financial operations in the management of our portfolio.

Joe holds a first-class honours dual degree in International Business from Northeastern University in Boston and Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) in Madrid, specialising in Finance. He speaks English, Mandarin and Spanish and has lived in the US, Hong Kong and Spain.

Joe joined AshbyCapital from Ernst & Young, where he was an Executive in the Real Estate Corporate Finance division, and focused on UK mid-cap real estate as well as hospitality M&A. Having also worked at the EMEA Real Estate, Lodging and Leisure division at UBS Investment Bank, Joe has significant European real estate M&A and capital markets experience.

Out of work, Joe enjoys sports including tennis and cycling.

Hardeep Kamboj

Financial Controller

Hardeep is our Financial Controller. He joined us in September 2017 from CBRE Global Investors where he worked as a fund accountant on their flagship $2.5bn fund and regularly took on large and complex mandates. He has also previously worked at Fund Administration company Langham Hall.

A qualified accountant, Hardeep also holds a first-class Honours in Economics and Accountancy and is a member of the ACCA.

Hardeep is extremely driven and enjoys taking on responsibility, while bringing charm and humour to his work. Away from work, he loves to take on new challenges, having recently completed a skydive.

Pippa Hunn

Office Manager

Pippa joined us in November 2015 and is the Office Manager.

She has a degree in Hospitality and Marketing Management from Oxford Brookes University and has significant experience in the hospitality industry.

Prior to joining us, Pippa spent three years working for At Your Service, where she managed her own team staffing high profile events around London.

Out of work, Pippa enjoys horse riding – she was part of the East of England Dressage team – as well as running, baking and looking after her pet parrot, Sparky.

Emma Dewhurst

PA to Peter Ferrari

Emma joined us in January 2017 and is PA to Peter Ferrari. She has a wealth of experience in operations management and was previously in charge of a team of four running the operations and customer services team at tour operator Railbookers.

Emma loves working as part of a team and gets a great sense of satisfaction from seeing projects through from start to finish. Calm under pressure, approachable and with a good sense of humour, she has the perfect qualities for a PA.

Away from the office, she enjoys sport: particularly tennis, waterskiing and golf – preferably in her favourite spot in the UK, Cornwall.

Emma has a BA in Geography from Exeter University.

Tatiana Lis

Bookkeeper

Tatiana is our Bookkeeper, handling all our monthly accounts, payments and invoices.

Tatiana has a Master’s degree in Economics and previous experience working at V Poggi, DPS, and Crosta & Mollica. She joined us in February 2016 to enter a new sector and has enjoyed becoming part of the friendly team.

Out of work, Tatiana enjoys visits to the park with her son.

Andrew Baum


Andrew has spent the majority of this time working with institutional real estate investors, developing global property investment strategies. He is chairman of Property Funds Research, a real estate consulting and research business, chairman of the investment committee for CBRE Global Investors’ Multi Manager team, a consulting partner with Internos Real Investors and chairman of Newcore Capital Management.

John Stephen


John is a Chartered Surveyor with over 40 years’ experience in commercial investment markets, including five years in Hong Kong and Tokyo. He retired in 2009 from international real estate advisors Jones Lang LaSalle after 35 years, having spent the last six as chairman of the English business. He is now involved in a range of non-executive and advisory board roles with public and private companies, family offices and charities.

William Hill


William is a chartered surveyor who has worked in investment management since 1985. He became head of the property business at Schroders in 1991 and, under his management, real estate assets grew from just under £200m to over £10bn. He stepped down from this role in November 2013, but remains an advisor to Schroders.
